First, whether regrouting is the right answer at all
Grout that is cracked in a straight line along a corner has not failed — it was never the right material for that joint, and it needs silicone. Grout that is failing everywhere, or tiles that sound hollow, usually means water or movement underneath, and regrouting that room is money spent on a symptom. That assessment comes first, before any work is quoted.

The old grout comes out to depth
Skimming new grout over old gives a thin layer that fails within a year. The joints are raked out properly so the new grout has real depth to key into, which is most of the labour in the job and the reason a cheap regrout does not last.

Corners get silicone, not grout
Every internal corner and every change of plane — wall to floor, wall to wall, around a bath — moves slightly, and rigid grout in a moving joint cracks. Those joints get flexible sealant. Grout there is the single most common reason a bathroom starts leaking without anyone noticing.

Loose tiles are lifted, not glued over
A tile that sounds hollow has lost its bond and will crack again. It comes off, the bed is cleaned back, and it is reset properly. Injecting adhesive under a drummy tile is a repair that fails twice.

Joint width and tile format
Narrow joints and mosaic are slow to rake out without damaging tile edges. Wide joints on large tile go quickly.

Whether tiles need resetting
Regrouting alone is quick. Lifting and resetting loose tiles, and finding matching replacements for broken ones, is the part that adds time.

What is actually wrong underneath
If the failure is coming from water behind the tile, regrouting will not hold, and the honest answer is a repair to the wet area instead. Better to know before paying for the wrong job.

Will regrouting stop my shower leaking?
Sometimes, and sometimes not — it depends on whether the water is getting through the joints or coming from behind the tile. He will tell you which one it looks like from photographs, before you pay for anything.
Can you just do the corners?
Yes. Cracked corner joints are the most common single repair, and they are silicone rather than grout — putting grout back in them is what caused the problem the first time.
Can you match my existing grout colour?
Usually close, rarely exact. Old grout has aged and been cleaned, so a new batch of the same shade will not look identical. Doing a whole wall or a whole room avoids an obvious patch.
What if a tile is cracked and I have no spares?
Say so early. Matching a discontinued tile is sometimes possible and sometimes not, and if it is not, it changes what the sensible repair is.
