Home base
Tile installation in Etobicoke.
This is home base. Most Etobicoke floors sit on a slab, and a slab is never as flat as it looks. That is what decides whether large-format tile lies right or catches the light along every joint.
Send a few photos and the rough size — you get a written price the same day. No site visit, no sales call.

What we find in Etobicoke
The floor under yours decides the job.
Tile is the last hour of the work. What sits underneath it is what the quote is really about, and it is different from one part of the city to the next.
- 01
Post-war slabs are flat to the eye and not to a straightedge
A 3-metre straightedge across a 1950s Etobicoke slab usually finds several millimetres of dip. Small tile hides it; a 600×1200 porcelain plank cannot, because the tile is stiffer than the floor. So the first thing out of the van here is a straightedge, and the floor gets marked up before a box is opened.
- 02
Levelling compound is a line item, not a surprise
Where the slab needs it, self-levelling compound is priced in the quote after the floor is checked — not added halfway through as a change order. On a bungalow floor that is often the difference between a floor that reads flat across the whole open plan and one that catches light along every joint.
- 03
Basements mean moisture, and moisture decides the system
A slab on grade in a finished basement can push moisture up into the adhesive for years. Where that risk is there, the answer is an uncoupling membrane over the slab instead of bonding tile straight to it. The membrane takes the movement and breaks the vapour path.

Small original bathrooms, usually gutted to the studs
The typical Kingsway or Mimico bathroom is a 5×8 with a mortar-bed tub surround from the original build. Once it is out, the wet area gets rebuilt properly — sheet or liquid membrane bonded to the drain flange, corners banded, then tile. Half the job is behind the tile and it is the half that lasts.
Working in Etobicoke
The practical side, sorted before day one.
Most delays on a renovation have nothing to do with the trade. They are parking, lifts and bin drops, and all three can be arranged a week ahead.
-
Driveways, so the trailer stays off the street
Most houses here have a driveway, which means tools and material stay on site and work starts at eight, not whenever a parking spot frees up.
-
Debris out the same week, not left in the yard
Tear-out from a bathroom is heavier than it looks — a mortar bed and cast tub can run past a tonne. It leaves in a bin, on a schedule agreed before demolition starts.
-
Nearest of anywhere he works
A short drive is why start dates hold here. A crew crossing the city twice a day is a crew that runs late, and the schedule is kept tight on purpose.

Questions
What people in Etobicoke ask first.
Do you actually work in Etobicoke, or is it just a listed area?
Etobicoke is where the business is based and where most of the work is. It is the shortest drive of anywhere on the list, which is exactly why start dates here are the ones that hold.
My basement floor is uneven — can it still take large-format tile?
Usually yes, but not without preparation. The floor gets checked with a straightedge first; where it dips, levelling compound goes down and is priced in the quote. Laying large format over an unlevelled slab is what produces lippage, and no amount of care during setting fixes it afterwards.
How fast can you get here to look at the job?
For a price you do not need a visit at all — send photos and rough measurements and a written quote comes back the same day. A visit is for the jobs where something on site has to be seen, and being local means it is a short one to arrange.
