Alexander Marchuk Tile & Renovation

Short, and written so you can actually read it.

This is a one-man tile business, not a technology company. It asks for photographs of the inside of your house, so it owes you a plain answer about what happens to them. Below is that answer, in the order the questions actually come.

What is collected, and only when you send it

Nothing is collected from you for simply reading this site. There is no account, no login, and no newsletter.

When you send the quote form, what arrives is what you typed: your name, email, phone if you gave one, your postcode or area, the answers to the six questions, any note you added, and any photographs you attached.

The builders’ form on the trade page collects the same kind of thing plus your company name and any drawings or tile schedules you upload.

If you call or text instead, your phone number reaches Alexander the way it would with any phone call.

    What it is used for

To price your job and to reply to you. That is the whole purpose.

Your details are not sold, rented or shared with other trades, suppliers or lead-generation companies. Nobody buys leads from this site because there are none for sale.

You will not be added to a mailing list. If a marketing email is ever sent, it will be because you asked for it, which is also what Canadian anti-spam law requires.

  3. 03

    Your photographs

Photographs you upload are used to quote your job and for nothing else. They are not published on this site, not posted on social media, and not passed to suppliers.

Every photograph shown on this site is from a job Alexander has finished, and where a house is recognisable the owner was asked first. No addresses, no surnames.

If a job of yours ever turns out well enough to be worth showing, you will be asked, in writing, and no is a complete answer.

Who else touches it on the way

This site is hosted and its forms are handled by Netlify, which stores the submissions and the uploaded files so they can be delivered. Netlify acts as the service provider here and does not use the content for its own purposes.

Email sent in reply travels through the ordinary email providers on both ends.

Because these providers operate servers outside Canada, information you send may be stored or processed outside the country and may be accessible to the courts of those countries. Sending the form is how you consent to that.

  5. 05

    How long it is kept

Enquiries that do not turn into work are kept while the quote is still live and are deleted afterwards.

Records of jobs that were carried out — the quote, the invoice and the correspondence around them — are kept for as long as the tax and business records they belong to.

You can ask for your enquiry to be deleted sooner, and it will be, unless it is part of a record that has to be kept.

  6. 06

    Measurement and advertising

This site uses Google Tag Manager, which loads the measurement below; and Google Analytics 4, to count visits and see which pages lead to enquiries. These set cookies in your browser.

They are used to count visits and measure advertising, not to identify you by name. You can block them with your browser settings or an ad blocker, and the site works exactly the same.

  7. 07

    What you can ask for

You can ask what personal information is held about you, ask for a copy of it, ask for a mistake to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted.

Ask, and you get an answer. There is no form to fill in and no fee.

If you are not satisfied with the answer, you can take the matter to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

Who to ask.

Alexander Marchuk answers this himself, in English, Russian or Ukrainian — the same person who quotes the job and does the tiling.
